Pelican Studio Apartment

Next to Osprey is Pelican studio apartment which is located on the west side of the house with wonderful views of the beach and the whole of Castara Bay. It looks west through the old mango trees to the ocean and the setting sun. 

Pelican is a studio apartment of 500 sq ft, with a bedroom and kitchen area that is 18 feet x 12 feet.  There are twin beds that can also be made into a massive king size bed with good quality mattresses, pillows and bed linen and a spacious mosquito net draped over a wooden frame that is suspended from the ceiling.  The kitchen area is equipped with quality utensils, pans, coffee and tea pots, glasses and china plates and bowls.  There is a small full-height table and two upright chairs, and also a security safe, hair-drier and portable ventilation fan.

The shower and toilet room is located to one side and is adjoined by the wardrobe and storage area.

The covered terrace is 12 feet x 9 feet and is furnished with two comfortable chairs, a large hardwood coffee table and a hammock, and is a lovely place for dining or hanging out with views of the beach and the bay.  Manta rays can regularly be seen in the ocean below and the birdlife is varied and constantly in sight, particularly if you keep the bird feeders topped up.   Bananaquits have even nested in the candle holders that we provide for each accommodation!

The covered terrace for Osprey and Pelican is divided by a partition which can be opened if a family or two couples are renting both.

The whole area, including the terrace, is illuminated by spotlights with dimmer controls, which are perfect for creating soft low lighting for a romantic atmosphere, with the added benefit of avoiding the tropical insects that are attracted by bright light.

In spring 2008 we intend to integrate Osprey and Pelican into a two bedroom and two bathroom apartment and this will involve the upgrading of the area in Pelican once we can arrange access.  This new apartment will be called Hummingbird.  Watch the website for the opening date or email us for updates.
